Sossoman
We recently completed a major transition for Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. They had been using an on-premises Windows 2012 R2 Server for approximately a decade. That server was the key to all of their business functions. The server maintained everything, including:
-
- File storage for all their users.
- Their business operations on a CRM (Customer Relationship Management).
- Their Domain Name Services (DNS) for all the PCs.
- Their user profiles via the Active Directory (AD) and all the data for each user.
- It hosted their wireless access point software.
- Their financial data files for their accounting software.
On October 10th, 2023, Microsoft stopped supporting Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system meaning the operating system on their critical infrastructure was no longer receiving crucial updates for security and regular operation.
We embarked on a nearly year long project that involved detailed planning, speaking to various vendors to compare software, and working diligently to move their files and software services from the server to various other platforms with meticulous caution.
The project wrapped up in early August by successfully removing their server from their environment. The IT component of the project was planned and executed with precision, but that never means that problems do not exist. When you’re moving a business from any platform to a new platform, there will be issues, and while we are sure that Sossoman Funeral Home & Crematory Center will recall not so fondly, some of those problems, many of which stem from one particular, cloud-based accounting software, we also firmly believe the business is in a much stronger position to continue growing into the future without the weight of old technology!
The team at Refocus Information Technology migrated our server to the cloud very smoothly. They were able to work with our hectic schedule and were available to answer any questions we had in a timely manner. There was little to no down time for our employees in accessing our data. In the past 4 years that we have worked with Refocus, we have had much success with their ability to keep us up to date with our software and other technology advances. We appreciate small businesses helping small businesses.

Universal Finance Phone System Upgrade
Refocus Information Technology recently completed a transformative project for Universal Finance, where they managed the migration of all older phone systems to Voice Over IP (VoIP) technology. This significant upgrade provided Universal Finance with interconnected phone services across their offices, enhancing communication efficiency and reliability.
The project involved a comprehensive review of the existing phone infrastructure, followed by meticulous planning and execution to ensure a seamless transition to VoIP. Refocus Information Technology’s team worked closely with Universal Finance to address any potential challenges and ensure minimal disruption to their operations. The new VoIP system not only improved call quality and connectivity but also introduced advanced features such as call forwarding, voicemail to email, and mobile integration, which greatly enhanced the overall communication capabilities of Universal Finance.
This successful implementation of VoIP technology is a testament to Refocus Information Technology’s commitment to delivering high-quality, customized IT solutions that meet the specific needs of their clients.

Refocus Information Technology recently completed a comprehensive project for The Paper in Morganton, NC. The collaboration involved setting up the initial network, internet services, phone systems, and all IT equipment and services. In addition to the initial setup, Refocus Information Technology provided ongoing support and maintenance, promptly addressing any technical issues to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
